Val Munro

Counsellor B.A(Ed), B. ED, Grad Cert. (Counselling), M.A (Counselling) APS (Clinical), PACFA reg Val has been a primary school teacher and worked as a counsellor in student services for schools prior to coming to Karinya in 2008. She has also lectured in Psychology/Developmental Psychology and run seminars on such topics as anxiety in children, helping children cope with divorce, stress management and resilience skills. Currently she is providing programs to schools in her community. She has a special interest in child and family therapy plus individual counselling for issues such as anxiety, grief/loss, depression, and trauma. Val is available for debriefing and supervision.

Mike Skewes

Counsellor BA.Min(Couns); Dip.Min; APC (Clinical, Supervisor); PACFA/ARCAP (Clinical) Mike has had an extensive background in pastoral ministry, school and community counselling. Having been lead male counsellor at a number of regional and inner city agencies, Mike has also had extensive experience in training other counsellors, clinical supervision and mentoring. Passionate about helping all people who come through his doors but he has a special interest for those who have experienced abuse. A member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals, and Global Association of Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies, Mike keeps up with the latest best practices in this field.

Lili Robinson

Counsellor Bachelor of Counselling ACA registered Level 3 Lili is a qualified counsellor spanning over 10 years, with a passion to "listen, reflect and change" with an eclectic theoretical approach, to begin the process to unpack issues towards achieving client personal growth, self-understanding and empowerment. She enjoys providing authentic, compassionate, challenging and insightful support as she journeys with her clients through a variety of challenges they face. Lili has experience working with individuals, couples and families; counselling for issues including depression, anxiety, anger, self esteem and a variety of other life transitional issues. Additional training in couple and relationship counselling, with a qualification as Prepare & Enrich Facilitator, she supports couples and family sessions providing insight and education to enrich their relationship and family connections. Areas identified will be challenged and explored that have had a negative impact on the relationship and family. Lili understands that our past can influence our present but it need not dictate our future. Our life experiences, positive or negative, are building blocks for who we are today and can be effective tools in creating who we aspire to be tomorrow. With the right tools, empathic support, and personal determination, healthy relationships can be developed, life coping skills will be taught and an opportunity to experience a more authentic, fulfilling life can be experienced.

Tara Paterson is a generalist counsellor working across all ages for individual counselling with a focus on working with youth and young adults . Tara is trauma informed and skilled in assisting with goal setting, loss of direction, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, carer burnout, compassion fatigue, domestic violence , family violence, chronic illness management and many more issues and areas. Tara is nationally registered with CCAA under PACFA. Tara has a Bachelor or Arts with a Major in Counselling and Minor in Psychology.
